Metal-Expo’2022 and Moscow Metal Week Proved Efficiency
Metal-Expo’2022, the 28th International Industrial Exhibition was held on November 8 - 11 at Expocentre Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia. The industry forum brought together more than 400 steel industry producers from Russia, and 15 neighboring countries. More than 22k industry professionals visited the event among them constructors, heavy engineers, steel products end-users, professionals from fuel and energy complex, as well as transportation, logistics, steel trading etc.
The four days of the event proved their high efficiency. Steel industry leaders held non-stop negotiations. The majority of the exhibitors highly appreciated professionalism of the visitors (among them leaders of steel, engineering, fuel and energy complex etc industries.) coming to meet face to face with steel products end-users. Many companies sent more than 100 delegates to the exhibition while more than 3k steel industry professionals were working at their stands during the exhibition in total. A. Shevelev, General Manager, Severstal commented: “The events held in parallel with Metal-Expo are of paramount importance to us for on the one hand they help us sum up the year’s results on the other hand providing a perfect opportunity to discuss and work out supply strategies”.
The majority of the exhibitors are highly satisfied with the exhibition in terms of business development. More than 50 events were held in parallel with the exhibition and the number of the visitors grew a lot more as compared to the previous years. Among the events was a meeting of the Coordination Council for the Industrial Policy of the Steel Industry Complex chaired by V. Evtukhov, Deputy Minister of the Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by steel business leaders as well as state officials. The event was focused on the domestic steel industry strategy until 2030.
Metalloinvest concluded two strategic agreements with RATM Holding and TGK-1. The first agreement stipulates that both companies should unite forces to enhance competiveness in the domestic mining equipment production in order to get independent from foreign solutions. The second agreement allows Metalloinvest reduce carbon emissions.
P. Shilyaev, MMK General Manager and V. Semyonov, Bardin’s TSNIICHERMET General Manager signed a cooperation agreement at MMK stand on development of new alloys and steel products.
A. Rakhmanov, General Manager of the United Ship-Building Company attended a meeting of the Committee for the Steel and Heavy Engineering Industries, the Defense Enterprises League and held a meeting with V. Klochaev, Ruspolymet Company Owner.
At a meeting with KAMAZ and GAZ, D. Korchik, General Manager, BSW discussed new requirements of Russian car producers to BSW holding products. D. Krutoy, Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Belarus Republic in the Russian Federation visited the BSW exposition. During the visit Mr. Krutoy pointed out the main trends in epending steel products supplies to the Russian market including investing projects implemented in Belarus and Russia.
Much has changed during the last few years including changes of investment plans, as well as reconstruction, logistics, products supplies, transportation etc. projects. Metal-Expo as a business platform provides a perfect opportunity to discuss the most pressing industry problems. V. Sidorov, General Manager, AMP-SMC commented: “We have met almost all our key customers representing domestic steel industry market and steel products distribution. It is a perfect opportunity for us to establish a dialogue with all”.
The Autumn Week in Moscow started on November 7th with Russian Metal and Steel Market conference bringing together 170 steel company leaders and industry professionals. At the event 25 speakers analyzed the latest trends in the steel industry market.
Powder metallurgy solutions, refractory materials supply, and import substation in the foundry, forging and extrusion industries were discussed by steel industry professionals.
Severstal, OMK and ZTZ held a conference on Use of Bimetals in Various Industry Segments for bimetals nowadays are getting more popular being substitution of stainless steel and other types of the so-called traditional materials.
Winners of the contest for the best solutions to the metal and steel industry were awarded Metal-Expo gold and silver medals during New Technologies, Equipment and Materials for the Steel Industry conference.
Students attended Future is Decided Today conference during which winners of a contest among young scientists were awarded.
Steel construction market participants discussed the most pressing industry problems and attended Zinc: Protection from Corrosion conference organized by Zinc Development Center. The event brought together more than 100 delegates. Among other events were conference on Coated and Pre-painted Steels (90 delegates), Non-Ferrous Steels conference (90 delegates), round table for steel enterprises marketing managers (110 delegates) and many more. Winners of the Best Internet Project of the Russian and the CIS Steel Trading Companies’2022 were awarded on the last day of Metal-Expo. The events provided all the steel market players a perfect opportunity to meet face to face and discuss the most pressing industry problems among them digitalization in the steel industry. In particular, the issue was discussed at a Steel Companies CEO meeting on IT Commerce Development in the Steel Industry. The delegates came to the conclusion that a high level of digitalization of industrial processes allowed major steel industry producers to be established in the online trade. Steel producers open internet sales, market place platforms and b2b online-services focused on small and medium size business. These things compliment a face to face communication not substitutiong it for offline steel trade still prevails.
However, omnichannel coordination among steel producers and end-users has become the latest market trend today. A. Kruglov, General Manager, Novostal-M, and A. Ivanenko, Managing Director, Samolet Group signed the first in the Russian history agreement on use of А550 СК reinforced rolled and other types of steel products by Abinsk Electric and Steel Works for residential and industrial construction as part of Metauniverse project. Novostal-M Metauniverse project includes digital assets of AEMZ and Balakovo Steel Works.
A few new brand marks were presented at Metal-Expo among them AEM-Spetsstal part of Rosatom-Atomelergomash Engineering Division. The company presented new import substitution solutions to large-sized products manufacture in the steel, oil and gas, engineering etc. industries. The company is one of the largest producers of steel billets for the nuclear engineering. Rosatom TVEL also presented its new products as part of Metallurgy project.
A new holding was presented at ZTZ and Ural Steel joints stand. The companies united forces to be able to implement the most large-scale domestic infrastructure projects.
MMK Group presented the whole range of its products from hot-rolled and long products to steel sheets for the automotive industry, coated sheets and high durable MAGSTRONG products.
TMK also presented the whole range of its products and solutions for the tubes and pipe industry. Among other things, the company held a ceremony of granting official dealer certificates to its partners during Metal-Expo’2022. ТМК2U Corporate University, part of TMK Group held training courses on Corporate University called From Forecast to Efficiency.
NLMK Group took the most of the four days of the event presenting their customers the latest solutions and product lines. NLMK and EVRAZ held separate meetings with their dealers. Among other products EVRAZ promoted their high-quality long and structural steel products for construction and railway industries. EVRAZ Holding developing steel construction ecosystem presented the whole range of services, products and solutions from steel rolled products processing to design, and steel products supply.
Severstal exhibited innovative solutions, materials and digital services and held a number of panel discussion on the most pressing industry problems. “Together” a partnership established by Severstal organized a Public Talk zone at its stand. A number of industry professionals and experts participated in the panel discussions. A joint panel discussion of Severstal, TMK, A Groupp and Korolyov Pipe Works on the state of things in the Russian pipe industry aroused keen interest of industry professionals.
Metal-Expo’2022 exhibitors did their best to promote their latest product lines, solutions and services. According to A. Romanov, Chairman of Metal-Expo Organizing Committee many companies have already booked spaces for Metal-Expo’2023. The number of exhibitors is expected to grow 30% as compare to 2022 edition.
