Metalloinvest Supports Nikitin Park Reconstruction Project in Zheleznogorsk
Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, one of the regional producers of high-quality steel and a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor, supported the town of Zheleznogorsk in Kursk region in its nominating the Nikitin Town Park reconstruction project for the fourth All-Russian competition of the best projects for creating comfortable urban environments. The project took first place and will receive federal funding in the amount of 95 million roubles. By the end of 2022, the central part of the park and the descent to the lake will be refurbished while the embankment and boat station will be equipped. Employees of Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK were actively involved in preparing the application.
Comprehensive efforts to improve the 70-hectare park began in 2017 with financial support from Metalloinvest. Novaya Zemlya, a company specialising in the integrated development of urban areas, is responsible for the preparation of project documentation and the supervision over its implementation.
During this period, the necessary research and social surveys were conducted, with residents voting on functional and service amenities for the park, documentation was prepared and the park was cleared of undergrowth, shrubs and household waste. Additionally, the fountain was renovated and a sports ground was built.
The cost of the works carried out in 2017-2019 amounted to 50 million roubles.
