NLMK Group Expands Structural Steel Offering

NLMK Group, a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor, a global steel company, has supplied VinProf with a trial batch of weathering steel produced at the Lipetsk site. Rolled products with increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion will be used to produce hedgerow systems, structures used in vineyards to support vines.

Surfaces of objects and structures made from weathering steels are more resistant to meteorological conditions. A key feature of weathering steel is its oxide layer, or patina, that inhibits oxygen diffusion to the metal surface and slows down corrosion. Patina-formation is enabled through introducing a combination of chemical elements, including nickel, copper, and chromium, at the steelmaking stage.
