Metal-Expo is 30 Years Old

Exactly 30 years ago, on February 6, 1995, the first International Industrial Exhibition Metal-Expo began in Moscow. It lasted six days – from Monday to Saturday inclusive. The decision to hold the exhibition was made in the summer of 1994, and in December of the same year, the first Organizing Committee meeting was held, which became a real working tool for forming the exhibition and business program of events for all 30 years of the metallurgists' forum. The Organizing Committee includes more than 30 leaders of industry unions and associations in metallurgy, machine engineering, construction industry, and research organizations – the elite of the country's technological intelligentsia.

In 1996, the first issue of Metal Supply & Sales Magazine was published, which became the main information partner of the exhibition for many years. In 1997, the Russian Association of Metal and Steel Traders (RAMST) was established, now known as RSPM.  The same year, the national conference Russian Metal and Steel Market was held for the first time, which traditionally opens the autumn Metal Week.

"The exhibition received a great support from the leading metallurgical enterprises in the country and government agencies, and then it became popular among foreign companies wishing to operate in the Russian market," recalls Alexander Romanov, co-chairman of the Organizing Committee of Metal-Expo. "Every year the exhibition became more and more representative, bringing together the largest players in the industry on its platform. The history of Metal-Expo allows us to trace the changes in production and sales strategies, product promotion tools, and the image of companies."

The circle of participants has expanded, and the number of visitors has increased several times — Metal-Expo has become a harmonious part of the Russian metallurgical community, representing the face of the Russian metals market. Metal-Expo is a significant event for metallurgists and their partners: for builders and machine engineers, for oil and gas professionals, and for companies providing logistics and service solutions. The exhibition provides a great opportunity to establish the sales channels, improve the customer relationships, find new consumers, increase market participants' awareness of the company's brand and strengthen its reputation among partners, test new product lines, and conclude promising contracts. Among the features of the exhibition atmosphere, one cannot overlook the overall goodwill and positivity of the exhibition space throughout its four-day operation.

This year, the metallurgists' forum will change its location and will be held for the first time in St. Petersburg. We look forward to seeing you at the 31st International Industrial Exhibition Metal-Expo'2025 in November 11-14, 2025!
