RUSAL supplied special tape for aluminium noise screens

RUSAL supplied specially manufactured aluminium strip to KraftSpan, a major manufacturer of noise screens for roads and railways. The use of aluminium in these screens is set to increase, offering significant advantages such as enhanced durability and reduced maintenance needs due to its anti-corrosion properties.
SAYANAL, a leading foil-rolling plant in Russia and CIS countries, produced and supplied a special aluminium tape for noise screens to KraftSpan, a major manufacturer of sandwich panels and screens.
For this new product, we used 3003 alloy (aluminium-manganese) tape, and by subjecting the coil to an annealing furnace at a specific temperature regime, we were able to achieve intermediate properties between hard and soft tape. This resulted in a metal that is both sufficiently robust to withstand the impact of road dust and gravel, yet soft enough to maintain the curved shape required for the screen and to be efficiently processed at the end producer. Alexey Agafonov, Director of RUSAL's Foil business unit, provided this insight.
The primary benefit of aluminium in this application is its corrosion resistance, which significantly extends the product's lifespan and enhances its visual appeal.
