N. Presnyakov, head of Steel Structures Research and Engineering Institute named after Melnikov told about the state of things in the construction industry
- Mr Presnyakov, what is the current state of things in the construction industry and what factors hinder its dynamic development?
- Among the main hindering factors I would mention capital outflow. As soon as investments inflow, the construction industry will boom. It all depends on the financing of industrial as well as civil construction.
A significant event happened in the civil construction last year: commissioning of individual housing in terms of sqm surpassed commissioning of communal housing. It sort of benchmark for people now start taking care of themselves using their small savings. Middle class capital will help launch small and medium businesses stimulating development not only construction, but also related sectors for the construction sector reflects the actual state of things in other sectors.
