SSAB-Ruukki merging to be presented at Metal-Expo’2014
SSAB and Ruukki merging into one steel-making company is considered one of the biggest deals of 2014 (around €1.15bn). The company has become the leading producer of advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), quenched and tempered steels (Q&T), standard strips, flat and tubular products as well as construction solutions for the global and Russian markets. SSAB and Ruukki have always ranked among top European steel producers specializing in highly profitable niche products. Merging of the two producers into one company has increased their competitiveness not only in the EU, but also in other priority markets including North America and the CIS. The production capacity of the united company with some 17 300 employees reaches 8.8Mt/y. Volume of sales in 2013 reached around €6.4bn.
SSAB-Ruukki will hold a conference for its Russian partners at Metal-Expo’2014, the 20th International Industrial Exhibition to present opportunities of the new company, its production and sales programs, as well as advantages of the merging:
- SSAB Special Steels: a global steel-making partner specializing among other products in advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), as well as quenched and tempered steels (Q&T);
- SSAB Europe: the leading North-European producer of high-quality strips, plates and tubes;
- SSAB Americas: the leading American producer of high-quality flats;
- Tibnor: the leading North-European distributor performing the whole range of services;
- Ruukki Construction: the leading European provider of energy-saving construction solutions.
Merging of such two biggest producers will no doubt become beneficial to end-users from heavy engineering and construction industries visiting Metal-Expo.
