Results of Metal-Expo'2004
700 companies from 45 countries participated in the exhibition. More than 24 thou. specialists in various sections of industry, building, and transportation visited the exhibition. Producers whose expositions were represented at the exhibition annually produce steel for $75 bln; metal - $30 bln. Total production facilities of all the exhibitors enable to produce 10 mln. of metal products and more than 150 mln. of steel products. Capacities of steel and metal productions of all the plants represented at Metal-Expo exceed demands of the domestic market 5 and 10 times respectively. It enabled Russian metal and steel consumers to find best suppliers for the nearest future, to do researches of conditions and prospects of metal and steel production and consuming in Russia, the CIS and other countries.
Participation of international metallurgical companies in Metal-Expo’2004 testifies to favorable prospects of development of Russian metal and steel market and stresses growing interest in it. According to Ronald Junck, Senior Executive Vice-President, General Director of Arcelor, this largest transnational company considers possibility to found joint ventures in Russia due to dynamically developing Russian metallurgical industry, expected growth in steel consuming and last but not least, due to Russia’s geographical location. In her welcome speech Liliana Brykman, a representative of European Commission, stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the EU and Russia.
For the first time a number of official delegations from Europe and Middle Asia exhibited at Metal-Expo’2004 on national pavilions. Representatives of the Czech delegation expressed interest in strengthening of business cooperation with Russian entrepreneurs. Same statement was made by PUDS — Polish Union of Steel Distributors. Representatives of SIDEREX, the Spanish Association of Steel Exporters also visited the exhibition. SK Networks a South Korean company representing Dongbu Steel was also positive regarding its participation in Metal-Expo’2004. All the major Ukrainian iron and steel enterprises also participated in Metal-Expo’2004.
35 conferences, seminars, round tables and presentations were held during the exhibition. The major events organized during Metal Week in Moscow were Russian Metal and Steel Market conference, Modern Technologies of Non-Ferrous Metals Production and Processing conference, High-Technology Equipment for Metallurgical Industry conference etc.
30 companies were awarded with Metal-Expo gold and silver medals for high-technological developments in metallurgy and metal and steel processing. Among the laureates were: Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, Urals Steel, Mechel Steel Group, Oskol Electric and Steel Works, Severstal-Metiz etc. Metal-Expo also awarded 230 specialists and heads of metallurgical companies with “10th Anniversary of Metal-Expo” gold medals for personal tribute in the development of Metal-Expo exhibition.
A number of competitions were held during Metal-Expo’2004 exhibition such as«Metal-Vision`2004», a competition of promotion films on metallurgical enterprises. More than 80 publications published reviews on the exhibition. Metal-Expo published Metal-Expo News , a daily newspaper during the exhibition.
Next years Metal-Expo’2005 will be held on November 15 – 18, 2005 at the All-Russian Exhibition Center. Majority of Metal-Expo’2004 exhibitors have already confirmed their interest to participate in Metal-Expo’2005. According to preliminary estimations the number of exhibitors of Metal-Expo’2005 will increase 10 – 15 %.
