China Steel Corporation Orders Three Converters From SMS group

SMS group, a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor has received an order from Taiwan’s China Steel Corp. for three replacement converters, a project intended to improve uptime and reduce maintenance costs.

In a statement, SMS group said the three 160-ton converters will be installed in the No. 1 steel shop at its Kaohsiung mill in Taiwan.

The order includes the converter vessels, the trunnion rings, the vessel suspension system and tilt drives, which will be equipped with SMS group’s X-Pact® electrical and automation systems. In addition, the company will supervise installation and commissioning.

To reduce installation time, SMS group said it will ship each of the 9-m trunnion rings as a single piece.

The project is expected to wrap up in 2022.

SMS group welcomes all steel industry professionals to visit its stand at Metal-Expo'2019, the 25th Jubilee International Exhibition, November 12-15, Hall 75, VDNHa, Moscow, Russia. Stand N 2C02.
