Maschinenfabrik Liezen and Giesserei (MFL): 25 Years, 65 Million

Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei (MFL), a Metal-Expo exhibitor, has invested more than 65 million in this business location in the last years. In the 25th jubilee year the Austrian traditional enterprise makes yet another commitment to the Ennstal: in 2019, more than 5 million have been earmarked for the Liezen location that has become an internationally renowned technology company thanks to specific and targeted actions.

The attachment of MFL to the Ennstal is much more than an empty phrase: some 65 million Euro have been put into the business location Liezen by the current owners since the take-over in 1994. “From the master painter to the tinsmith to the regional plumber: we actively seek to create domestic added value,” stresses MFL Managing Director Decker. As a rough guide only: approximately every fourth Euro invested by MFL stays in the region.

Rise to “Global Player“

The Ennstal “investment staccato“ will continue in the jubilee year: this year a total of 5.5 million Euro will be invested in the location. The major part of this amount will be spent for important maintenance measures and new plants. Furthermore, targeted actions will continue to promote the development to an international technological pioneer: “MFL has become an important globally acting technology partner – especially in the fields rail and railway systems as well as metal machining,“ comments Decker. The necessary competences are provided by the Foundry, Mechanical Engineering and the newly created business unit Technologies. This power unit develops complete product solutions targeted to the sophisticated requirements of international markets. More than 75 percent of MFL products and solutions are supplied to the global market.” Due to the increasingly globalised world, price and innovation pressure will continue to intensify. We are facing a highly competitive business environment. We have not been afraid of changes in the past – and we will undertake strategic actions in the future if they are decisive factors to secure the future of the business location,“ declares Decker.
