Steel Consumption Increases in Russia Steadily in 2021

Denis Chernenko, MMK’s Head of Marketing, spoke on the reasons behind Russia’s growing steel demand in almost all metal-intensive industries at the Russian Metals #Market conference held in Moscow.

He also touched upon MMK Group’s projects that help the company succeed in sales.  Apart from the general recovery in demand due to the #economic growth of 2021, it is the implementation of national programs for infrastructure and housing construction as well as deferred demand in the automotive industry and mechanical engineering that result in the increase of #steel consumption in Russia. Analysts see the potential for further growth in 2022.  Following the results of nine months, MMK has already increased the volume of shipments of products by 24% year-on-year.

This significant #growth was made possible, among other things, due to the 2500 hot rolling mill reaching its full capacity, as well as the launch of the official marketplace – a digital platform through which customers can order products online, even in the smallest volumes. Sales of MMK's #premium products will be further supported by the operation of the 1700 cold rolling reversing mill, launched in May 2021: the Group will further improve the quality of galvanized and pre-painted rolled steel.
