OEMK (Part of Metalloinvest) Begins Production of SBQ Rolled Products with Low Residual Magnetisation

Alexey Ugarov OEMK (part of Metalloinvest, a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor) has commissioned a unit for demagnetising high-quality rolled steel products (SBQ). Two more similar demagnetisation units from Czech company ZDAS will be commissioned at the enterprise by the end of 2022. Metalloinvest’s investments in the equipment will amount to 35 mn roubles.

The reduction of magnetisation to a specific level in SBQ rolled products is a requirement from global producers of automotive components, aircraft parts and ships.

For the enterprise's customers, the residual magnetisation in rolled products is a negative factor when processing them, as it causes metal chips to stick to machined surfaces, working tools and fixtures, in turn increasing the risk of product rejection or emergency situations.

Kirill Chernov, Managing Director of Alexey Ugarov OEMK, commented: "Improving SBQ quality is one of the enterprise’s key strategic development areas. The new equipment will ensure that our products meet the highest standards and allow us to expand our list of potential partners.”
