MMK Takes Part in Russia's Largest Metallurgical Forum

The 28th International Industrial Exhibition Metal-Expo kicked off in Moscow on 8 November. At MMK's joint stand, visitors can learn about the products and technological capabilities of both PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) and the companies of the MMK Group.

MMK is a regular participant of the forum and traditionally has one of the largest and most impressive stands presenting the Company's entire product range, from hot-rolled and long products to automotive plates, coated products and a range of high-strength and wear-resistant steels under the MAGSTRONG brand.

At the Metal-Expo, executives and specialists from the MMK production plant and the Trading House are joined by representatives of MMK Group companies, who also display their products. These include the Magnitogorsk Rolling Mill Plant, one of Russia's largest producers of centrifugally cast sheet and section rolls, and Ogneupor, one of the leading producers of aluminosilicate and magnesia refractories. Shlakservice, MMK's metal slag processing service, will present granulated slag-forming mixtures used in steel casting on continuous casting machines, while the United Service Company will display a wide range of maintenance and repair services for a variety of equipment.

MMK-Lysva Metallurgical Plant, Russia's leading producer of electrolytically galvanised, colour-coated steel and SteelArt decorative coated rolled products, will also take part in the exhibition. The Plant will present both current and new products. These include rolled products with a highly elastic polyester coating for the production of gutter systems, rolled products with a textured polyurethane coating, as well as rolled products with anti-graffiti and anti-bacterial coatings. Guests will also see new designs for decorative products, including the 'Wenge', 'Bordeaux Wenge' and five 'Vintage' designs.

At MMK's stand, R&D MGTU - an advanced technology development company co-founded by MMK and the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University - will present an automated intelligent foam fire-extinguishing system for the plant's hot-rolling mill 2500, located in sheet-rolling shop No. 4, which was commissioned and created with participation from MMK. This is the first development of its kind in domestic metallurgy. The equipment combines a video analytics system, which makes it possible to determine the location and area of a fire, with video and audio signals displayed on the control post operator's monitor. The firing direction of the extinguishing jet can be modified remotely by personnel from the control post. The main feature of the system, which has an automatic work setting, is that it can be used without sealing the affected area. This enables the fire to be contained as quickly as possible through remote control from the operator's desk.

MMK Group executives and experts will also take part in an extensive business and competition programme at the metallurgical forum.

The 28th International Industrial Exhibition Metal-Expo is taking place from 8 to 11 November 2022 at the Expocentre in Moscow, with the participation of around 500 Russian and international companies. The forum will showcase the entire spectrum of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy products, as well as state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The Metal-Expo is attended by consumers of metal products from the construction industry, mechanical engineering, the fuel and energy sector, and transport, logistics and metal trading companies. The forum's programme will feature over 50 conferences, seminars and round tables covering all segments of the metallurgical business.
