ChelPipe Group Launches IT Solution for Outgoing Inventory

ChelPipe Group’s Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant (PNTZ) and Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe), a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor, now use a mobile app to keep track of the number of manufactured pipes automatically; the solution relies on an object recognition tool, the Group’s press service reports.

The new IT solution boosts productivity by making the inspection engineers’ work more efficient and by eliminating miscounting issues with piles and packs of pipes.

The pipe-recognition algorithm that meets all the necessary tech requirements was designed through lengthy, detailed analysis of an archive containing images of pipes in piles and packs with the help of a math model for image processing. The app with a user-friendly interface has already been tested successfully on the job and will now be available to over 500 employees at PNTZ and ChelPipe.

The Android-based app for smartphones and tablets is now available for downloading at ChelPipe Group’s in-company website and will soon be available on PlayMarket as well. In the future, an iOS-compatible version of the app will be launched and integrated with the Group’s record-keeping systems.
